Commercial Items, FR Thermal Barrier and Knit Fire Barrier
This is a solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; offers are being requested and the solicitation will be available at the Federal Business Opportunities website. The solicitation number is CT2219-16 and this solicitation is issued as a Request for Proposals (RFP). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-89-1. The North American Industry Classification System code is 313230 nonwoven fabric mills, the SBA small business size standard is 750 employees.
This requirement is SET-ASIDE 100% for SMALL BUSINESS. UNICOR, Federal Prison Industries, Inc. intends to enter into a three (3) year firm-fixed price Requirements type contract with an EPA clause for the following commercial items: FAB9887 fire retardant thermal barrier, 100 yard roll, 88" W used to manufacture bedding mattresses. And FAB8557 a tubular knit sleeve fire barrier item, 1x1 rib knit, weight 3.5 oz per linear yard min., 30" min. W for use as a protective cover over mattress cores made from polyurethane & polyester. The finished mattresses are for sale to federal government agencies. Specifications that apply to FAB9887 are CAL TB 117 (California Technical Bulletin); CAL TB 129; CAL TB 603 and U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission 16 CFR Part 1633.
