Thank you for responding to our advertisement. We are seeking a proposal for installing a secure gate at
the entrance to our facility's parking area. Our objective is to derive optimal value from this security
upgrade considering our vulnerability mitigation needs and the total available budget.

The due date for proposals is Friday, December 1, 2023 at 5 PM.
A government grant provides funding for this project, and it must be completed by June 30, 2024.
When developing the scope of work please:
1) Contact us with any questions at GateRFP@ywhi.org Do not make any assumptions.
2) Review the technical specifications for general conditions, product requirements, and
installation/project delivery standards.
3) Review the EHP which describes the area in which the gate will be installed.
4) Optional walkthrough/site visit on Friday November 17th at 10 AM at 54 Nagle Avenue; New
York, NY 10040.
5) Submit any and all follow-up questions in writing on or before Tuesday, November 21, 2023 to
GateRFP@ywhi.org.

Security Gate - specifications
1) Description
a. The security gate will be a high-quality, motorized roll-up door with external remote
controls and an automatic stop.
b. Fence panels shall be attached to posts with brackets supplied by the manufacturer. Posts
shall be set in concrete footers having a minimum depth of 36" (Note: In some cases,
local restrictions of freezing weather conditions may require a greater depth).
2) System Description
a. The manufacturer shall supply the total door/gate system including all component parts
3) Quality Assurance
a. The contractor shall provide laborers and supervisors who are thoroughly familiar with
the type of construction involved and materials and techniques specified.
4) Submittals
a. The contractor shall submit a proposal following all of the requirements laid out in the
RFP and following a pre-bid site walk-through.
5) Product Handling and Storage
a. When materials are received at the job site, they will be checked to ensure no damage
occurred in shipping or handling. Contractor will provide written specifications for
appropriate storage of the materials to protect against damage, vandalism, weather and
theft.
6) Product Warranty
a. All materials/gate components shall be warranted within specified limitations by the
manufacturer for a period of a minimum of 20 years from the date of installation. The
Warranty shall cover any defects in material finish, including cracking, peeling, chipping,
blistering or eroding.
b. Reimbursement for labor necessary to restore or replace components that have been
found defective under the terms of manufactures warranty shall be guaranteed for 5
years from date of the original purchase.
7) Gate
a. The gate will have a width of approximately 243" and a height of 13' to be verified
based on field measurements of the selected contractor.
b. The gate will be motorized with a remote control operating system and anti-shock
system
c. ASTM A653/A653M - Standard Specification for Steel Sheet, Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) or
Zinc-Iron Alloy Coated (Galvannealed) by the Hot-Dip Process.
d. Fence/Gate Material:
i. Steel material for panels and posts shall conform to the requirements of ASTM
A653/A653M, with a minimum yield strength of 45,000 psi (310 MPa) and a
minimum zinc (hot-dip galvanized) coating weight of 0.60 oz/ft2 (184 g/m2),
Coating Designation G-60.
ii. Material for pickets shall be 3/4" square x 14 Ga. tubing. The rails shall be steel
channel, 1.5" x 1.4375" x 14 Ga. Picket holes in the rail shall be spaced (specify
4.675" o.c. for standard picket space or 3.500" o.c. for 3" air space). Fence posts
and gate posts shall meet the minimum size requirements of Table 1.
iii. The manufactured system shall be capable of meeting the vertical load, horizontal
load, and infill performance requirements for Commercial weight fences under
ASTM F2408.
iv. Gates with an out to out leaf dimension less than and including 72 inches shall be
fabricated using ornamental panel material and 1-3/4" sq. x 14ga. gate ends.
Gate leafs greater than 72 inches shall be fabricated using rails, 17-gauge pickets,
intermediate uprights, gussets and 1-3/4" sq. x 14ga. gate ends. All rail and
upright intersections shall be joined by welding. All picket and rail intersections
shall also be joined by welding.
v. Electrified gate operators shall be attached to the gate and interfaced with
ACAMS for remote operation. Gate operators shall be sourced from the gate
manufacturer and meet manufacturer's minimum performance requirements.
