The Catalyst Program in Soundview Park (in the Bronx)supports local community participation to revitalize this waterfront park in the Bronx. Catalyst is a project of Partnerships for Parks, a joint program of City Parks Foundation and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.

Catalyst Grant description: This grant is intended to help you engage park users by organizing recreation, education,
arts and waterfront activities for the Soundview Park Festival (Saturday, July 14th 2012; rain date: Saturday, July
21st 2012). The theme for the festival is Celebrating the Water/Waterfront.

Potential projects include, but are not limited to, health and well-being projects involving biking, walking, yoga, tai chi, zumba, meditation, dance, etc.; waterfront-specific activities such as water ecology workshops and kayaking; community visioning activities such as photography and video projects, neighborhood tours, mapping, and story-telling projects that connect residents to local history and help them plan for the future of the park; arts and crafts workshops; performances; and volunteer projects like gardening, tree care, and field maintenance. Projects with the potential to be replicated or to become regular park programs will receive preference.

Grants will be awarded, ranging from $250 to $1,000.

Who May Apply? Any group or partner is welcome to apply. Preference will be given to partners with yearly budgets under $100,000 and to projects that show community collaborations with other local groups. Individuals are encouraged to join local groups applying for this grant (please contact us).

Requirements:
Provide proof of your 501(c)(3) status or a letter and proof of 501(c)(3)status from your fiscal sponsor. If you do not
have either form of documentation and are interested in this grant program, please contact us.
Projects/activities must promote programming, recreation, education, and/or waterfront activities in
Soundview Park.
All activities must be free and open to the public.
Projects/activities must be completed during the Soundview Park Festival (Saturday, July 14th 2012; rain
date: Saturday, July 21st 2012).
Grant recipients must meet with the Catalyst Coordinator for 2-3 planning meetings.
Grantees must document their project with photos, video, and/or written accounts. By August 31st, 2012, grantees
must submit a final report, including a one-page narrative and a fiscal accounting, including receipts and/or invoices
for costs incurred.
Grantees must credit the Catalyst Program in Soundview Park, Partnerships for Parks, and the current list of funders (which we will supply) on all promotional materials.

Grant Orientation Meeting -Thursday, February 9th at 6:30pm, Field House in Soundview Park.

This is an optional information session for groups planning to apply and interested individuals. The field house is located on
Lafayette Ave. between Colgate & Boynton Avenues. Directions: 6 train to Hunts Point, Bx5 to Story & Colgate Aves. and walk south
towards Lafayette Ave., OR 6 train to Soundview Ave., walk south on Morrison Ave., use the footbridge and continue on Morrison
Ave., and walk west on Lafayette Ave., OR 6 train to Soundview Ave., Bx27 to Soundview & Lafayette Aves., then walk west on Lafayette Ave.
