University of California - External Audit Services
The Regents of the University of California (the University) is a public, state-supported land grant institution with a 3-pronged mission: to provide high quality education, to conduct state of the art research, and to provide meaningful public service. The University has approximately 187,200 employees with resources of nearly $24.0 billion divided amongst its ten campuses, five medical centers, one national laboratory, the Office of the President (OP) and eleven foundations. The University's campuses, except for San Francisco offer undergraduate, graduate and professional education while the San Francisco campus is devoted exclusively to graduate and professional education in health sciences. The University operates one of the nation's largest health science and medical training programs offering instruction in 16 health professional schools across six campuses. The University operates and manages the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and is a member in two separate joint ventures that operate and manage two additional national laboratories.
The University is initiating a formal process for the selection of a CPA firm to conduct independent audits of its financial statements and certain other audits. The Firm is appointed by the Regents of the University of California and reports to the Regents' Committee on Compliance and Audit.
It is our goal to establish a long-term relationship with the selected firm based on excellent performance, entering into a five year agreement with the option for an additional three years. In order to accomplish this objective, the University is inviting nationally recognized CPA firms, including our current firm, to submit their proposals to satisfy these requirements. In addition, any award resulting from this proposal request shall also be governed by the University's Professional Services Agreement, which is attached.
