Radio-isotopic Identifinders (RIIDs)
The Radio-isotopic IdentiFINDERS (RIID’s) will be used to support incident response to radiation events across the State of Indiana.
Notes: This specific piece of equipment is being requested to provide consistency of equipment among first responders that would assist in a radiation event. This item is currently carried by the Indiana State Department of Health Radiation program, the National Guard 53rd Civil Support Team, and the CBRNE responders at IDHS. These individuals will be relied upon to identify the radioactive isotope during a radiation event. Consistency in the equipment used for this purpose will provide for a more efficient response and a greater ability to request reachback assistance from the Joint Assessment Center (JAC) with the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) of IDHS. This equipment will be used to support radiation response incidents as well as the Preventative Nuclear Detection Program (PRND) program under IDHS
