The Department of Emergency Medicine at Bellevue Hospital Center requests information from qualified vendors that provide technology-based solutions, which facilitate or enhance the communication between health care providers (clinicians and administrators) and persons with limited English proficiency (LEP). Through this RFI, the Emergency Services Department (ED) of Bellevue Hospital Center seeks to identify one or more vendors whose services best match the needs of the Department and the hospital at large. This information is being compiled by graduate students at New York University at the request of the ED, in order to identify possible vendors who may ultimately receive a formal Request for Proposal. A final report of these findings will be presented to the ED staff and also to the steering committee.

The Bellevue ED is interested in technology-based solutions that provide enhanced medical communication throughout all areas of the ED (e.g., admitting, patient care, discharge). This solution should include the capability to enhance LEP patients understanding of their diagnosis, treatment plan/options, medications, and follow-up plan upon discharge. Furthermore, this solution should also improve efficiency and quality of care provided to this patient population.
