The New Jersey State Police has provided Law Enforcement Services to the citizens of New Jersey since 1921. Since that time, Academy training has provided candidates the skills necessary to prepare them to effectively perform the job tasks required of a State trooper. The State Police selection process is utilized to identify the most suitable candidates for this demanding assignment. The selection process includes written testing, background investigations, physical and medical assessments, oral interviews and a psychological evaluation that is used to assess an individuals emotional suitability to perform effectively in a law enforcement career.

In this regard, the Division of State Police intends to engage an independent firm to conduct non-biased psychological testing of prospective candidates and to provide a final written recommendation and report for each candidate tested. The vendor must be prepared to defend its procedure against legal and administrative challenges as well as provide expert testimony if necessary.
