Iowa distributes a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) formula grant to qualified bidders to provide services to Homeless Individuals or individuals at Imminent Risk of Becoming Homeless and who either (1) have a Serious Mental Illness or (2) have a Serious Mental Illness and abuse substances. The grant is called Projects for Assistance in Transitioning from Homelessness (PATH). Contracts issued pursuant to a prior RFP for this funding expire 6/30/2010, so a new RFP is required.
The Federal PATH program is designed to support the delivery of eligible services to persons who are homeless and have Serious Mental Illnesses, with a particular emphasis on (a) persons most in need of services and (b) services which are not supported by mainstream mental health services.
