Laboratory Information System
The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) Department of Pathology is releasing this Request for Proposal (RFP) to solicit information from leading Suppliers of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS). UIHC Department of Pathology prefers to operate a single LIS system that will provide a single view of each patient/client cared for by UIHC Department of Pathology, with mechanisms to assure appropriate security and confidentiality of patient information. UIHC believes that implementing an integrated LIS across all laboratory sections will improve the quality of services delivered, improve the quality of care provided, and improve operating efficiencies. However, if a single LIS system does not meet the laboratory functional specifications, an integrated system with niche Suppliers for some modules will be considered. With this in mind, UIHC Department of Pathology intends to provide a state of the art commercial solution, requiring minimal customization, to meet the needs of individual departmental sections.
