THE JEWISH COMMUNITY FEDERATION will award grants from the Annual Community Campaign, including donor-directed gifts for designated purposes. Requests for operating support are eligible for Federation grants, as well as proposals for special projects and services.
The Federation's funding priorities:
1.Jewish Education: The primary goal of Federation grants is to help parents and families instill and strengthen Jewish identity and values by making Jewish education-including preschool through college programs, day schools, synagogue schools, camps, and informal learning-more accessible and meaningful to all participants and their families.
2.Community Outreach: Part of the Federation's core mission is to encourage and facilitate active participation in the organized Jewish community by all East Bay Jews, and to extend this outreach effort to young adults, interfaith couples and families, the unaffiliated, those new to the area, and residents and institutions located in Contra Costa, southern Alameda County, and the Tri-Valley region.
3.Social Action and Human Needs: The Federation supports institutions, programs and projects that foster tikkun olam (repairing the world) by offering opportunities for individuals to engage in social action, and by advocating for the Jewish community. In addition, Federation grants will support services for the community's most vulnerable populations, particularly the aging, and those in need.
