Community organizations that are non-profit need to submit proposals by Tuesday, Sept. 16 for the opportunity to participate in providing effective programming for students who are at-risk.

Enterprise City School System Director of Federal Programs Oveta Pearce said the the programming from the agencies is funded by the states At-Risk program.

A committee will decide which agencies will receive the funds based on the proposal they submit, she explained. This is an invitation for the non-profits to provide programs for the at-risk students.

Last year, Pearce said the funds were awarded to Coffee County Family Services for the Building Blocks program; Johns Chapel AME hosted an after-school program; and Southeast Alabama Youth Services provided counseling for at-risk students and also presented parenting sessions.
This is an effort to involve the community in planning and implementing the at-risk programs, she said. The requests for proposals are now being accepted and the school system is looking forward to collaborate with the community and the agencies to help serve students.

Proposal forms can be obtained from the superintendents office and returned no later than the deadline on September 16.
