The Histiocytosis Association, a global nonprofit organization that works to address the needs of patients and families dealing with histiocytic dirorders, a group of diseases that occur when there is an over-production of white blood cells known as histiocytes that can lead to organ damage and tumor formation, has issued a Request for Proposals for basic and clinical research projects related to finding a cure for histiocytosis.
Grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded during the organization's 2014 grant cycle. To be eligible, applicants must be a full-time faculty member at an academic institution. Proposals requesting funding in excess of $50,000 will not be considered, and grants cannot be used to fund overhead costs, travel budgets, or principal investigator salaries.
