Globecomm Environmental Enclosure Outdoor Unit (ODU5) P/N01-000643-002
The Naval Air Warfare Center - Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, NJ (NAWCADLKE) intends to procure a quantity of seventy-seven (77) each environmental enclosure Outdoor Unit (ODU5), P/N 01-000643-002, in support of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Special Communications Requirements (SCR) Division St. Inigoes, Maryland, Weapons of Mass Destruction - Civil Support Team (WMD-CST) Unified Command Suite (UCS). The Navy intends to solicit on a sole source basis from Globecomm Systems Incorporated (Globecomm) for the equipment identified above. The ODU5 is integral to the operations of the AVL 1278KFD antenna, providing operational power distribution, antenna control signaling, system configuration, diagnostics, and a data traffic modem between the UCS network and the AVL 1278KFD Antenna for transmission via satellite; they will be integrated into the existing UCS vehicles as direct form, fit, and function replacements for the currently fielded and integrated ODU3 units, which have reached end-of-life status and are now obsolete. The ODU5 under P/N 71290000-001 is the only known outdoor environmental enclosure unit whose size, weight, ventilation requirements, and interface connectors are identical to those of the currently fielded ODU3's. In addition, it is the only known ODU capable of meeting the UCS capability, environmental, and form/fit requirements without additional modification, testing, and certification to the ODU or to the existing Ku-Band Antenna system and/or UCS.
Globecomm is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the ODU5, P/N 000643-002, and it remains the only business entity to own the proprietary data for the ODU5.
The Government intends to procure this equipment under the authority of 10 USC 2304 (c) (1) as implemented by the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Section 6.302-1.
