The Victoria S. and Bradley L. Geist Foundation is accepting applications for projects designed to increase the capacity of organizations and programs to deliver and expand quality services to foster children and their families in Hawaii.

Administered by the Hawaii Community Foundation, the foundation will provide grants ranging from $5,000 to $40,000to projects that increase the capacity of the organization, program, or system to deliver quality services. Capacity-building efforts may address governance and leadership, strategic relationships, evaluation and impact, resource development, internal operations and management, program design, delivery and evaluation, executive and key staff transitions, and staff training. Grants will not be made for capital, endowments, re-granting activities, or operating costs.

Hawaii nonprofit organizations that are tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and religious organizations are eligible to apply. The majority of the organization's or program's clientele or project beneficiaries must be children in the foster custody of a Hawaii state government agency; children placed by a Hawaii state government agency in therapeutic foster placement or in kinship, foster, respite, guardianship, permanent custody, or adoptive families; their caregivers; or current foster youth or young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 who have aged out of the state child welfare or mental health systems.

Organizations must apply via the Hawaii Community Foundation's online submission system. Before submitting an application, organizations must first establish an online account to access the application. It may take a few days for organizations registering on the site for the first time to receive the account information. It is recommended that applicants give themselves adequate time to complete the application by the submission deadline.
