The existing emergency spillway is a reinforced concrete structure at the south east end of Knapp Pond II. Tree clearing and grubbing shall be accomplished on site with the burial of stumps on site as directed by the resident engineer. All erosion control measures and site perimeter controls shall be in place prior to commencing any construction activities. A stockpile and staging area is indicated on the drawing and shall be in place with perimeter silt fencing prior to the start of work activities. The existing lower water level of Knapp Pond II shall be controlled by the main dam principal spillway and shall be maintained at this approximate level (0.50 ft +/-) throughout the duration of the construction period as directed by the resident engineer and the State Dam Safety Engineer. During construction activities, the downstream outlet channel and adjacent side slopes disturbed during excavation activities shall be graded for stabilization and for the placement of toe drain filter material and Type IV stone fill. The outlet channel and side slopes shall be stabilized at the end of each day to ensure that a precipitation event does not promote the release of sediment. The existing access drive surface shall be stabilized and maintain throughout the duration of the project by upgrading surface and installing erosion control measures. The trucking of materials for this project shall be through the construction access drive. Weather conditions shall dictate the maintenance of this access drive with respect to additional temporary fill being trucked in and placed on the road bed surface.
