Emergency Power Upgrade
There will be a MANDATORY PRE-BID MEETINGS with a PROJECT SITE TOUR FOLLOWING the meeting, on Monday, January 25, 2010.
DESCRIPTION
Contractor shall provide all labor, material, and equipment necessary to complete the work as detailed in the drawings and specifications associated with this bid. The project will encompass the following minimum specifications.
1.New Emergency Generator Install a new 1500 kW/1875 kVA generator outside the central plant in the dock area with weatherproof enclosure and sound attenuator. Include new underground feeders into the central plant and overhead inside the central plant to the new paralleling gear in the mezzanine.
2.New Paralleling Gear Replace the existing emergency parallel switchgear with the new switchgear. Contractor shall install the new emergency parallel switchgear at the same location so as to parallel the new emergency generator and two existing emergency generators to provide a full capacity of 6,000 amps for emergency power.
3.Automatic Transfer Switches - Replacement of all existing automatic transfer switches in the hospital for a total of eleven (11) with size and location as shown on the documents.
4.Temporary Power -Rental of temporary emergency generators will be required during the replacement of the existing paralleling gear. Temporary power is very critical for the operation of hospital; therefore, contractor shall pay special attention to this matter. Temporary power is also required for all loads served by the automatic transfer switches. Contractor shall study the documents very carefully and have complete understanding of requirements.
5.Electrical Shutdowns - Contractor shall coordinate each shutdown with the hospital officials and provide ample notice of shutdown. Hospital standards shall be followed.
