The Town of Cary, North Carolina, is requesting proposals for planning services from a select group of firms with proven expertise in downtown urban streetscape design. The proposal would highlight how the firm could assist the Town in preparing a comprehensive streetscape package that successfully incorporates the pedestrian and bicycle-friendly design initiatives in Carys adopted downtown master plan the Town Center Area Plan. Elements such as lighting, street trees, signage, public art and street furniture will also be emphasized (For the purpose of this RFP, this package of illustrations and associated deliverables is referred to as Downtown Cary Streetscape.) Downtown Cary Streetscape should successfully communicate the downtown vision to citizens, business owners and developers. Downtown Cary Streetscape will also be used as a component of the Towns downtown visioning product, Envision Downtown Cary, to generate development interest in the downtown, and to foster development activity. Cary is located within one of the most actively growing metropolitan areas in the southeastern United States the Research Triangle Park Region, also known as the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Metropolitan Area. Cary is the third-largest municipality in the metropolitan area (pop. 108,000), and the seventh-largest in North Carolina.
