The four municipalities listed above (to be known as the study group) are seeking proposals from qualified consultants for the preparation of a Redevelopment Planning Study for the corridorknown alternately as State Street/Walnut Street/Jonestown Road in the City of Harrisburg, Susquehanna Township, Penbrook Borough, and Lower Paxton Township, including Herr Street from its intersection with Walnut Street in Penbrook Borough westward to Herr Streets intersection with Cameron Street in the City of Harrisburg. This project area will be known as
the Walnut Street Corridor Redevelopment Planning Study. This corridor experiences high traffic volumes, unsafe pedestrian situations, adjacent land use conflicts, uncoordinated vehicular access and signalization, and various other underperforming aspects. Preference will be given to consultants who demonstrate experience in the following areas:
corridor transportation issues in a built environment;
economic development/revitalization of core downtowns;
aesthetic, signage, and urban design capabilities; and
working with state transportation agencies; multiple municipalities; and community development corporations, businesses, and community leaders.
