The Community Salmon Fund (CSF) is a unique small-grants program designed to stimulate smaller-scale, community-oriented habitat restoration and protection projects in support of salmon recovery in Washington State. CSF is funded through a partnership between the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the Salmon Recovery Funding Board.

CSF provides funding through a competitive application process for projects that have a substantial benefit to watershed health and are consistent with local and/or regional salmon recovery plans. Projects are required to have a strong community involvement component as a way to encourage landowners, business owners, and the community at large to become engaged in salmon recovery.

Eligible Project Types
Restoration of habitat within and along salmon-bearing rivers, streams, and the marine nearshore.
Project design and development that will lead to an on-the-ground restoration project within 18 months.
Creative partnerships for salmon recovery that engage new communities in salmon recovery and enlist prospective landowners willing to participate in on-the-ground restoration work.(Examples of eligible projects under this category include: coordinating a group of farmers interested in riparian restoration, organizing salmon workshops with streamside businesses, and introducing neighborhoods to local restoration options through demonstration projects coupled with targeted outreach.)
Maintenance of previously funded Community Salmon Fund projects.(Only grantees funded under previous CSF grant rounds are eligible to apply for funds to conduct on-site maintenance of CSF-funded project activities and deliverables.)
