Authentic Intellectual Work
The vendor will provide the following services to the Department between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011.
1. Assist the Department in preparing, planning, and coordinating the implementation of Authentic Intellectual Work (AIW) in Iowa high schools new to the project and schools that have been participating in AIW since 2007.
2. Provide 13 schools/districts with professional development and technical assistance to support the implementation of AIW. This includes planning and facilitating the following:
Site visits
Leadership meetings
3. Support the Department and AEAs in planning and assist in the facilitation of AIW regional events for LEA, AEA, and DE participants that will include the following:
AIW Kick-offs
Mid-year Institutes
AIW Coaches Institute
AIW District Coordinators Academies
4. Assist the Department in developing and implementing that will provide new Iowa coaches with the knowledge and skills to successfully implement AIW in new schools, addresses:
AIW Mastery
Team Facilitation
Self-reflection
Core beliefs
5. Support current AIW coaches with scale up inside of a district, by providing coaches with guidance on common issues associated with scale up.
6. Provide a detailed look at the research that supports the AIW framework and respond to questions about the evidence that supports the framework.
7. Assist the Department in developing a plan to make the Department, AEAs, and districts to be self-supporting.
8. When requested, assist the Department as it communicates with Iowa stakeholder groups about the vision and work surrounding AIW.
