Adolescent Sexual Health and Pregnancy Prevention Media and Marketing Campaign
The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to solicit proposals from qualified service providers to provide adolescent sexual health- and adolescent pregnancy prevention- focused media and marketing services to the Iowa Department of Human Services. The Department intends to award a 1 year contract beginning on October 1, 2007 and ending on June 30, 2008, with up to 4 years of additional one (1) year extensions at the sole discretion of the Department.
A foundational belief of this project is that, with factual information and the support of caring adults, teenagers can make healthy, responsible sexual decisions that prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. In addition, this project seeks to educate parents, teens and the wider community on the need for medically-accurate, age-appropriate sexuality education in Iowas public schools. The chosen Contractor will be expected to work with FUTURE NET: The Iowa Network for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, Parenting, and Sexual Health as well as DHS and the Community Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Grantees across the state. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in working with advocacy groups, especially groups that are located in Iowa and work primarily in the area of adolescent pregnancy prevention and sexual health and to those applicants with experience in non-traditional media.
Special attention should be paid to specific work that demonstrates knowledge of prevention strategies in health promotion and that demonstrates familiarity with current theory and data related to media messaging and delivery strategies in teen pregnancy prevention and sexual health. Samples of work produced for and collaborative efforts related to this experience will help to strengthen the proposal including samples of work in both traditional media (i.e. television, radio, print, billboard) and non-traditional media (i.e. online communication, ambient media, cell phone technology).
