5 Line Replacement
The Work includes, but is not limited to excavation and placement of approximately 430 feet of 51-inch diameter steel pipeline and appurtenances with a new 51-inch diameter steel pipeline and appurtenances within the same easement (approximately 30 feet south of the existing operating pipeline). Dewatering within the work area is anticipated to be needed in order to prepare the pipe trench and place the new pipeline. According to the project permits, the in-water work shall take place between July 1 and August 31. Connections between the new and existing pipeline are included in the work and shall occur in November 2012, following the peak summer water demand. Work includes construction of two dechlorination vaults to be used when the pipeline is taken off line prior to making connections with the existing pipeline. Streambed, stream bank, and site restoration are also included in the work. The existing pipeline shall be capped and abandoned in place.
