Starting the week of June 9, 2008, the City experienced flooding of historic and
catastrophic proportions. The River crested June 13 at 31.12 ft, 19.12 ft above flood
stage and 11.12 ft above the previous record set in 1929.
The basement and first floor of the existing 2-story, Public Works Building were submersed in more than three feet of water. As a result of the
flooding, major construction work is required for the damaged areas which include office
and warehouse space. This RFQ is for the architectural and engineering services for
programming and design of this work. However, the conceptual scope of work has yet to
be determined, based on direction from the City Council, with regard to the reuse of the
building.
