This is a sources sought request only, not a solicitation announcement. This is NOT a request for proposals or quotes and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract. The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) is conducting market research seeking SLDMBs as an effective method to obtain Total Water Current (TWC) in the vicinity of a Last Known Position (LKP) during Search and Rescue (SAR) missions.
• The SLDMB's must be safely deployed from both shipboard and aviation assets. The SLDMB's are required to be capable of operating in heavy/inclement weather such as high winds, waves, storms and icing conditions in both salt and fresh water.
• The required SLDMB must drift with the upper one meter of the ocean, minimizing slippage with the water and rectification of the wave motions.
• The USCG requires SLDMB's that are expendable and sink at the end of their life cycle.
• The USCG requires a SLDMB with a weight no more than 40 pounds.
• The USCG requires an alkaline battery.
• The USCG requires a minimum three (3) year shelf life.
For reference USCG currently utilizes:
Metocean SLDMB-3, Part Number: ISLDMB-FAT-AS-DATA-SP which is a Code drifter model (Davis).

When responding to this RFI, please include the following information:

(1) Provide a specification sheet for any proposed SLDMB. This also can include a capabilities statement.

(2) Is the SLDMB currently in production? If not, when is the product planned for production?

(3) Please provide the details and terms of any standard warranty included with the product.

(4) Is your product listed on a General Services Administration (GSA) schedule?

(5) Is your firm a certified hub zone firm, woman-owned or operated or certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned? If so, indicate which apply.

(6) Do you have other Government/military agencies using the product, and if so which agencies, POCs and contract numbers?

Responses to this notice should include company name, address, telephone number, and point of contact (POC).
After the review of the responses to this sources sought announcement, and if the USCG still plans to proceed with the acquisition, a solicitation announcement will be published on the Federal Business Opportunity (FBO) website. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are not adequate response to any future solicitation announcement. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are NOT a request to be added to a prospective offerors list or to receive a copy of the solicitation.
E-mail responses are preferred and may be sent to Kathrine.R.Leach@uscg.mil. Please indicate "SLDMB" in subject line.
