On August 29, 2019, a Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued by the National Park Service (NPS) to solicit proposals from the private sector to lease, on a long-term basis, one historic building in Hot Springs National Park - the Maurice Bathhouse. The Maurice is located on "Bathhouse Row" a National Historic Landmark District that contains the grandest collection of bathhouses of its kind in America. These historic bathhouses are arrayed in a continuous row along the main street of the City of Hot Springs, Arkansas, opposite the City's "Main Street" style commercial streetscape. Built in 1912, this historic building is approximately 22,919 square feet. Other buildings located on Bathhouse Row besides the Maurice are: the Buckstaff Bathhouse, a traditional bathhouse that has been in continuous operation since 1912 and open to the public under an NPS concession contract; the Quapaw Bathhouse, leased and operated as a modern day spa featuring the hot springs thermal waters; the Fordyce Bathhouse, used as the park visitor center; the Hale Bathhouse, a boutique hotel, restaurant, and event space; the Superior Bathhouse, leased and operated as a brewery and distillery; the park's Headquarters Building; the Lamar Bathhouse which serves as NPS offices and curatorial space and also is the home of the Bathhouse Row Emporium, the park's official store; and the Ozark Bathhouse, the park's Cultural Center.
