Blood Specimen Collection
The Department is required to collect blood or other specimens from offenders serving time in a state prison, or upon order of a court for the purpose of creating a forensic record based on DNA. Blood shall only be drawn by personnel with the appropriate medical training and following the DNA guidelines. Coverage includes all Texas county jails and all facilities.
