This is the first phase from the masterplan for the Lincoln Castle site to realise its potential to become a unique heritage attraction. This first phase of works will address the Crown Court building which is currently in use by the judicial service and will house Magna Carta and associated exhibitions , the Georgian prison block and the walls, gateways and connecting towers encompassing the site. The contract value for this package of works will be in the order of 15 200 000 GBP. This project has been awarded development funding from Heritage Lottery Fund and the second stage application is due to be submitted in September 2010 with a decision at the end of February 2011. If the second stage funding is not successful then the Council will terminate all appointments and the project will not continue
