The newest version of Symantec Backup Exec for windows servers is required to enable recently purchased servers and Virtual Servers to backup current tape equipment over the network. The current version being used in the Nashville Area does not support virtual environments thus it is necessary to purchase the newest version to support the current infrastructure model. This will allow for easier system management as the newest version has a more refined user interface and allow greater connectivity to the various servers located in the Nashville Area.
