The goal of the Albany 2030 Sustainable Code Project is to undertake a comprehensive update of the Code of the City incorporating sustainable design and smart growth principles, with specific emphasis on zoning. The project will also consider the refinement of buildings codes, design guidelines, storm water and flood management regulations, with an emphasis on climate adaptation and streamlined permitting for compliant projects. The effort seeks to coordinate the development process of permits and approvals by removing inconsistencies and eliminating outdated policies. Based on this goal, the Zoning & Development Advisory Committee – a diverse group of stakeholders – in consultation with the City’s Department of Development and Planning will work with the chosen consultant to help guide the development of the plan.
