The Santa Lucia Preserve is a 20,000-acre private protected area located in Carmel, California which includes 300 residential sites. Each lot includes a building envelope with surrounding property held under conservation easement to protect ecological, scenic, cultural and watershed resources. To ensure landowners' fuel management activities are consistent with the conservation easement while meeting or exceeding state requirements for defensible space, customized fuel management plans are prepared for each lot. Each lot-specific plan provides specific prescriptions for fuel treatments and is updated every 5 years. The Conservancy is seeking to develop a list of fuel management experts meeting specific qualifications to prepare lot-specific residential fuel management plans for Preserve landowners, as further provided in the RFQ.
