Website Transition Plan
Content Migration and CMS Transition, Design and Website Upgrades, Testing and Launch.
The successful Proponent will convert or transition the current website to a robust, user friendly, open source
platform. The RMOW has investigated a variety of content management solutions (CMS), but has not made a
definitive selection, nor does it have a particular preference so long as the CMS selected meets the overall goals of
this project. A critical component of the proposal must include a clear recommendation for a CMS and rationale as
to why that solution is being chosen.
The design and navigation of the current production website (whistler.ca) was developed in 2005. The key priority
for the website, at that time, was to provide information to the community about RMOW news, services, projects
and programs. The current website is using Joomla, a free open-source content management software and updates
are done in-house by RMOW staff. The version of Joomla being used has been unsupported since June 2010 –
meaning “fixes” for technical problems will no longer be published
