In order to achieve this goal, the Website Makeover Project will consist of two primary
objectives. The first objective will be to migrate existing web site content into a new Content
Management System (CMS), and establish content development templates that will enable
employees to participate in web site development activities without needing to be knowledgeable
in the usage of advanced web design tools such as HTML code editors and FTP applications.
The second primary objective will be to redesign the website interface so that it meets or exceeds
accessibility specifications as documented online in the W3C Web Content Accessibility
Guidelines (http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/). In this regard, accessibility and
usability will be key components in the renovation of the existing site infrastructure, as the
library desires a web based service portal that is essentially an extension of the physical library,
providing the same ease of use to which library patrons are accustomed in the more traditional
brick and mortar environment.
