The World Wide Web is the state of the art in technology. Oaklandnet.com, the Official Web Site for the City of Oakland, has represented our presence on the cutting edge of
this technology since January 1997. One of the common complaints about government is its inaccessibility to the public it serves. The Oaklandnet.com Web Site is the best example of the City of Oakland moving towards the ATM banking model of self-service while making public information both accessible and user friendly to the community.
The City of Oakland is seeking to update our web site, www.oaklandnet.com, change the look and feel, expand database functionality, develop a production environment
that allows selected individuals to update a development site that mirrors the production web site, and to improve its functionality with the use of web applications.
The Web Services Section is responsible for the overall content and graphic design of Oaklandnet.com and for all technical design and architecture. Each department/function of the City, through an assigned liaison, is responsible for
creating and submitting their web content. Webteam staff designs, maintains and updates static and dynamic web pages. Web applications also contain some standard
of consistency in their look.
