SERVICES REQUIRED:
The USMMA is seeking a Web Based Catalog Management product (an editable web page) that will allow for a decentralized creation and editing process of catalog information so that content owners at the department level can make changes to the catalog.

Vendor will supply a web based database driven academic catalog management system that provides, at a minimum, the following required functionality:


The system must have the ability to create and maintain multiple independent academic catalog publication years and/or versions.


The system must be capable of displaying multiple catalog types, and multiple catalog years, including archiving past catalog versions, through a single e-catalog portal.
The system must support and track the relationship of content items, such as courses, to their owning entity, such as a department.


The system must support the ability to reference course information inline within programs by displaying course prefix, number, and title as a hyperlink.


The e-catalog portal must provide the ability to print any page from the online catalog.


All programs must provide the user with the ability to print a degree plan for the program on demand.


REQUIREMENTS:


The online catalog should be a searchable website for course descriptions via course number or course title. It should have the ability to also produce a PDF file for publication or printing. The site is a representation or the.pdf listed below:

The site is not a channel to register students, sign up for classes, perform admissions, look up academic transcripts, or perform any other function other than to act as a reference to look up information listed within the academic catalog. The catalog must have Academy faculty user-access for faculty administrators to input data related to their perspective editable data sections. There are 7 separate departments within the Academy with approximately 1000 separate courses.


BACKGROUND: The Office of the Academy Registrar provides services related to the creation and maintenance of academic records. The office oversees Midshipman enrollment and registration, coordinates course rolls and maintains academic transcripts. The office also prints the transcripts, provides diplomas and intermediate honors certificates, oversees enrollment verification, and assigns classroom space.


DISCUSSION: The Office of the Registrar is maintains the USMMA catalog. The catalog contains; curriculum, basic course descriptions, academic and administrative policies and procedures as it relates to the degree. It also contains information on what is required of a Midshipman at the Academy while enrolled.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
No education requirements


PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: The catalog is produced annually.
DUTY STATION: The work may be performed at the Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration (MARAD), U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), 300 Steamboat Road, Kings Point, NY 11024. Remote work will be acceptable for this purpose.
