The organization is interested in contracting with an IT programming vendor to redesign our existing online yearbook.
The Yearbook is a printed seed exchange where members share seed across the country. In its print form, it is an encyclopedic volume which offers over 13,000 unique varieties (and nearly 21,000 total listings) to members from members, making it one of the greatest sources of heirloom varieties in the world. Around 700 members send us a list of what they want to share, then we compile that list and send it back out to all 13,000 members. The yearbook is a meeting place where gardeners share what they have grown, and learn from others with similar interests.
The online yearbook puts this publication online with enhanced searching, and the ability for members to update and add their own listings. We have compared this project to an 'Etsy' for seed.
Savers Exchange (SSE) is a non-profit organization based near Decorah, Iowa with the mission of conserving and promoting America's culturally diverse but endangered food crop heritage for future generations by collecting, growing, and sharing heirloom seeds and plants.
