WEBSITE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL
The City Hospitality and Tourism Board is accepting proposals to develop and host
the Tourism website http://www.tourmcdonough.com.
The purpose of this Request for Proposal is to provide a fair evaluation for all candidates and
to provide the candidates with the evaluation criteria against which they will be judged. The
existing Tourism website was originally designed and produced in 2009.
McDonough Tourism currently has a web presence that is somewhat outdated in
appearance, structure and in the presentation of content. An opportunity exists to reengineer the site to better brand and promote the destination, organize the site better for
easier content finding, allow McDonough Tourism staff to easily update content, implement
social media functionalities, improve organic SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and incorporate the latest web technology. Upon completion of the development of the site,
McDonough Hospitality and Tourism will take full responsibility for website content
maintenance and administration. All content, coding and graphics will become the sole
property of the McDonough Hospitality and Tourism. If there is a requirement for future web
work outside of the scope of McDonough Hospitality and Tourism staff, the successful bidder
will be contracted on a per project basis.
Create a new website utilizing a content management system, i.e. Joomla, WordPress or
Drupal, which is fast to download, flexible, informative and easy to maintain. We need a
friendly site that can deliver large amounts of constantly changing information to our key
audiences.
In addition to designing a user-friendly site with an intuitive interface, we must also develop a
web-based system to enable McDonough Hospitality and Tourism staff members to easily
add pages and update content without directly accessing source code. Currently, the
McDonough Hospitality and Tourism has a content management system which allows for
some of the content to be updated. There are some sections that are “locked” and only
available to our current website designer. This system works well for our staff
