The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) requests responses to this SSN to obtain technical information, cost, limitations, and other market information of available augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) capabilities for potential future acquisition initiatives.

This SSN seeks information on existing solutions for virtual training and testing platforms for DoD combat forces operating in a battlefield nuclear warfare (BNW) environment, or performing radiological threat objects find and interdict operations.  Leveraging AR/VR capabilities will increase the ability to train in relevant situations in a reduced cost environment.  AR/VR capabilities will not replace field training requirements but will enable their execution and training iterations.  Battlefield scenarios at all levels are of interest (large force movement down to individual movement).  Purpose is to test warfighter scenarios and decision-making to provide users realistic outcomes to support training and course-of-action selection when faced with radiological/nuclear threats.  Additionally, the solution may be leveraged for planning training scenarios and equipment testing events.  Radiological/nuclear considerations may include everything from point radiation sources, area contamination, and nuclear weapon detonation.  Responses to this SSN can address all or a down selection of specific aspects described above.

Responses to this SSN should include:

•·       -Technological description of existing solution

•·       -Solution coding language, if applicable

•·       -Concept of use

•·       -Technical operational system requirements for solution utilization

•·       -Hardware requirements for solution

•·       -Description addressing the ease of modification or supplementation with additional parameters (example - adding new radiation detection equipment into a scenario)

•·       -Technical support availability and access for users

•·       -Battlefield environments description

•·       -Radiological/Nuclear hazards capability description

•·       -Images/Pictures of solution utilization

Sources having the capability and/or concept to meet all or some of the needs of this SSN are invited to respond.  Responses should be limited to a five (5) page white paper; not including cover page, cover letter, and table of contents.  White paper responses should be in 12 point Times New Roman font or similar font style.  Any propriety concepts of information should be clearly identified as such.  Submitted data and information will not be returned.  Any information submitted in responses to this SSN is strictly voluntary.  This notice is for information planning purposes and the Government will not pay or otherwise reimburse respondents for response submissions.
