Subject: Variable Effort Steering Unit for Occupational Therapy

This Sources Sought Notice is for informational and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation or commitment by the Government at this time. This notice is intended strictly for market research. The purpose of this Sources Sought notice is to determine interest and capability of potential vendors relative to the North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) 485991 (Special Needs Transportation) and whether or not the items requested are offered on a federal supply schedule or as an open market item.

The Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center is looking for a variable effort steering system to add to the driver training minivan. This system will be used to help Occupational Therapist teach disabled Veterans a variety of adaptive driving skills. WMK, Inc. is known to meet the needs of the Government. The variable steering system must meet the following salient characteristics:

Variable steering drive master part for evaluator vehicles
Zero effort steering modification drive master part
Backup steering system drive master part
Vendor must remove and reinstall the existing hand controls/brackets and furnish
Install the variable effort steering system

Interested Small Businesses, VOSBs and SDVOSBs are required to submit an e-mail delineating:
Qualifications, capabilities, and experience for providing this product
Business size
Socioeconomic status; and
If the product is on the Federal Supply Schedule or the Open Market

This is not a Request for Proposal or an announcement of a solicitation and no solicitation package exists at this time. Your responses will be used solely for market research purposes of the Government. The Government will not pay for any materials provided in response to this notice and submissions will not be returned to the sender. VOSBs and SDVOSBs must be registered and verified in VIP for consideration.

The applicable North American Classification System (NAICS) Code for this requirement is (NAICS) 485991 (Special Needs Transportation) with a size standard of $15.0 million. Responses are to be submitted by e-mail to Antanette.Shellaugh@va.gov. The information requested must be received no later than 1:00 pm Central Standard Time on Friday, January 20, 2017.
