The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation. Please do not submit a proposal in response to this RFI. This notice is to assist the VA in the determination of sources only. A solicitation is not currently available. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Central Iowa Health Care System (VACIHCS), is currently seeking information from any Vendor that can provide Board Certified Ophthalmology Physician Services on-site and on-call for the VA Central Iowa Health Care System, 3600 30th Street, Des Moines, IA 50310. These services are solely dedicated to Veteran patients of the VACIHCS.

VACIHCS is looking for responses from contractors regarding their capability to provide on-call and in-patient consultation for hours outside normal VACIHCS Ophthalmology clinic hours. Vendor will be required to provide phone consultation response within 15 minutes, and/or geographically able to see the patient in person within 60 minutes at VA-CIHCS main campus (3600 30th St, Des Moines, IA 50310) and/ or a vendor clinical space as required.

Weekday on-call is estimated at 3875 hours annually and weekend/holiday on-call is estimated at 2640 hours annually. Emergent encounters are estimated at 1 per month and have historically consisted of the following:

Additional Information: The VA seeks to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification (HUBZone, 8(a), small, small disadvantaged or service disabled veteran owned small business) relative to NAICS Code 621111, Offices of Physicians (except Mental Health Specialists); size standard of $11 Million.

***Only Vendors who currently are (or employ) Ophthalmology physicians within the on-call radius (60 minutes) of the VACIHCS need respond. Responses from Vendors who are not (or do not currently employ) Ophthalmology physicians within the on-call radius are not currently capable of providing services and will not be considered as part of this market research. ***

Responses to this Sources Sought will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions and developing a potential procurement strategy. After review of responses to this sources sought synopsis, a solicitation announcement may be published in the FedBizOpps website. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are not considered adequate responses to the solicitation announcement. All interested offerors will have to respond directly to any corresponding solicitation by submitting a proposal.

The intended contract period will be for one base year and four, one-year option periods.
