Description


The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), Section on Sensory Cells and Circuits intends to procure brand name or equal parts to upgrade the Government owned stereoscope (SZX16), a 2-photon/epifluorescence microscope (Olympus MPE-RS), and an Olympus multi-photon imaging system (FVMPE-RS).


This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items, prepared in accordance with the format in FAR 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice and under the authority to use simplified procedures for commercial requirements as provided in FAR 13. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation, No. N02CO12633-78, includes all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through FAC 2005-99 (Jul 16, 2018).


This is a small business set-aside. The North American Industry Classification System code is 334516 and the business size standard is 1000 employees.


Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price type Purchase Order.


Description of Requirement
The Contractor shall provide brand name or equal parts to upgrade the Government owned stereoscope (SZX16), a 2-photon/epifluorescence microscope (Olympus MPE-RS), and an Olympus multi-photon imaging system (FVMPE-RS).

The salient characteristics are as follows:


A. Stereoscope (SZX16) upgrade:
Provide a lightsource that allows to shine light of various defined wavelengths as well as an additional microscopic filter to allow imaging of fluorescent probes in the blue color spectre.
• White LLG "ready" Multi-Band / UV @400nm system
• Collimating adaptor
• Liquid Light Guide
B. 2-photon/epifluorescence microscope (Olympus MPE-RS ) upgrade:
An objective with 1.25x magnification and a small aperture. This will greatly improve the flexibility to easily switch between large scale cortical imaging and imaging with 2-photon laser to acquire microscopic detail in regions of interest.

C. Olympus multi-photon imaging (FVMPE-RS) system upgrade:
Add additional wavelengths, image in 3D (volumes)
• Non-descanned detection (NDD) filter cube for 475 nanometer (NM) and red flourencence
• NDD fiter cube for red and CY5 Fluorescence
• NDD filter cube for violet and green fluorescence


A minimum of twelve (12) months warranty including parts and labor, commencing upon installation is required for the parts.



Delivery/Installation: The Contractor shall deliver all parts within 120 days after the award to: NCCIH Bethesda, Maryland 20892. The Contractor will be provided with the mailing address and point of contact prior to delivery. The installation shall be done by coordinating with the Technical Point of Contact, withing two weeks after the delivery.
