This project involves the upgrading of the Mount Adams native seed cooler to a climate control system (including temperature and humidity controls). Upgrade to climate control system, shall include both temperature (cooling/heating) and humidity features.

The Mount Adams seed cooler is used to store live native seed. The desired year-round climate in the cooler is 55 degrees F and 35% relative humidity. Currently, the climate control system allows for active cooling of the facility in summer, but maintaining steady temperature is difficult. In addition, the current cooling system was not designed with dehumidification in mind, and actually tends to humidify the seed cooler when in use. For this reason, we have a portable dehumidifier that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in order to dehumidify the environment. This unit is not effective at maintaining the humidity at below 40% consistently, particularly in summer. This unit also tends to build up ice, and requires frequent defrosting. In winter, the temperature is passively maintained; during the winter, the dehumidifier is effective at maintaining a relative humidity in the mid 30 %s (our target), but tends to heat the cooler. Our goal is to have a built-in climate control system in the native seed cooler that will maintain temperatures between 50-60 degrees farenheit (target being 55) year round, while also maintaining relative humidity at between 30-40% (target being 35%).

Contractor shall supply and install a climate control system (including temperature and humidity controls), and also install any needed ducting, refrigeration coils, line sets, condensation drains, or other necessary parts and supplies for the proposed climate control system. Work also includes the removal of the current system for owner to dispose of.
