The Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) maintain services on an .org domain for conducting research specific activities.  At TATRC's Mobile Health Innovation Center (MHIC), Fort Gordon, this .org domain is used to maintain the Mobile Health Care Environment Research (MHCE-R) system and backup servers for continuity of operations (COOP) for the main TATRC office at Fort Detrick.  For the MHCE-R system servers and the COOP servers to operate on an .org domain, an external data line is required to allow these serves to connect to the internet outside of the .mil domain.

The MHCE-R system allows TATRC MHIC to conduct applied research on the use of mobile health for the DHA.  The TATRC COOP servers allow the organization to be in compliance with Information Assurance (IA) credentialing requirement for redundant backup/failover infrastructures to ensure continuity of critical operations.
