Unified Messaging System
Central Washington University, (CWU, the University, Central), intends to contract for the purchase, implementation, training, and maintenance associated with an enterprise Unified Messaging System. Unified Messaging (UM) is defined as the handling of voice, fax, and regular text messages as objects in a single mailbox that a user can access either with a regular email client or by telephone. The user can open and play back voice messages, assuming that the user has multimedia capabilities. Enhancements including Unified Communications (UC) may be offered as options, to be considered for purchase either in the near or distant future contingent upon funding availability. Unified Communications encompasses several communication systems or models including unified messaging, collaboration, and interaction systems; real time and near real-time communications; and transactional applications.
