USDA Forest Service National Forests in North Carolina, Tusquitee Ranger District has a requirement for Shuler Creek Stream Restoration. Within this ~1000 feet stream reach of Shuler Creek work is proposed to stabilize erosion and sources of sedimentation and improve aquatic habitat diversity. Work includes demolition and disposal of a log-crib fish barrier. This will be accomplished using natural channel design techniques including the construction of 24 instream structures, per Specifications. The channel's natural dimension, pattern, and profile (within a confined valley bottom) would be reestablished in the constructed reach using upstream reference reach data to establish a stable stream channel with high quality aquatic habitat.
