The five-year Public Financial Management Strengthening Program will support building the capacity of targeted Government of Nepal (GON) Ministries and Agencies (M&As) to improve transparency and accountability of public financial management (PFM) systems. PFMSP will support the GON's capacity building priorities, which have been identified through extensive consultations between USAID, GON and the donor community engaged in PFM reform efforts. The key goals of PFMSP are:

a)    Support to the expansion of the Ministry of Finance (MOF) Budget Management Information System (BMIS) to selected line Ministries through integration with the Line Ministry Budget Management Information System (LBMIS);
b)    Strengthen the institutionalization of internal controls, internal audit functions and improved procurement practices across selected line Ministries and Agencies; and
c)    Support the GON's efforts to increase financial transparency and accountability of post-earthquake reconstruction and recovery assistance.
