The Carbon Trust is seeking interest from financial organisations who wish to be considered as strategic partners in an energy efficiency financing programme for SMEs. With a financial partner, the Carbon Trust will seek to develop and bring to market a viable and attractive energy efficiency financial product for SME customers in the UK, building on the experience of the Carbon Trusts SME energy efficiency loan scheme. We believe the potential market size is up to 1bn over a ten year period.
Since 2003 the Carbon Trust has deployed over GBP 100 000 000 of public funding in loans to just under 4 000 SMEs for energy efficiency investment. These investments achieve energy savings which support repayment terms of less than 4 years, with positive cashflow impacts thereafter. A strategic partnership between the Carbon Trust and a financial organisation would enable the ongoing provision of finance for energy efficiency investment by SMEs, using the carbon saving accreditation services of the Carbon Trust. We are seeking partners who can provide the capital and potentially also other benefits for SME customers.
