Leeds City Council are inviting expressions of interest for a glass collection and recycling service that will provide an income to the Council. The service currently generates around 8 500 tonnes of glass per year, collected from the Councils 850 bottle banks and internal high rise glass collection service.
The contractor will be required to make glass collections from bottle banks along with bulk collections of glass from Kirkstall Road Transfer Station, Leeds, (or alternative facility). Where appropriate, the glass bottles are collected colour separated on the Councils 440 bring sites and 11 Household Waste Sort Sites. We are however actively trying to increase the number of collection points for all recyclable materials across the city.
