The State requires a contractor to remove marked standing or downed dead or dying trees to meet public safety and the operational objectives. State Park is comprised of approximately 983 acres of hilly terrain supporting pine-oak forest communities. Recent dry periods, hypoxylon canker and pine beetles have killed numerous trees in the park and created hazard trees in the developed areas of the park and along park boundaries.
