Tree Inventory and Software Procurement

The City of Columbia, SC, population approximately 116,278, encompasses 125.2 square miles within the city limits. The city maintains over 45,000 trees in the right-of-way along approximately 500 miles of roadway inside the city limits. A tree inventory was concluded in 2002, but was not compatible with GIS software. The purpose of this project is to complete an ARCGIS-compatible tree inventory and assessment of two sections of the City. This is the first phase of a multi-phase project. The information in the inventory and assessment will give the City the ability to plan for future maintenance and needs.
