The Transuranic (TRU) Liquid Waste (TLW) Project is a congressionally funded line item project to provide TRU liquid waste treatment capability to replace the current operation at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The new TLW facility will be a Hazard Category 3 nuclear facility. This project was halted in 2017 with the 100% design complete. Due to the pause in the project and several issues with similar building designs and construction at LANL, the design will need to be revisited. The intent is to identify the current design as 60% complete, incorporate new information and lessons learned to move the design to 100%. The current design includes an approximately 3,750 square foot facility that will be constructed in a congested area at LANL. The building will be a cast in place concrete structure with two floor levels and three roof levels. The facility will include process equipment such as tanks, piping, a micro filter, a drum evaporator system, and associated support areas, such as a drum preparation and storage area, personal protective equipment don and doff room, decontamination room, telecommunication, electrical, fire riser, and mechanical rooms. Associated scope also includes construction of retaining walls and associated building utilities (water, sewer, electrical, telecom, and liquid waste) to be tied into facility utilities by LANL. LANL is considering either a design-build or design-bid-build approach. As such, LANL is looking for interest in design only, design-build, and construction only. Based on the selected approach, the Request for Proposal (RFP) for design only or design-build is expected to be issued October 2019. Construction is expected to start in October 2020. NQA-1 qualification is required.

Please submit your interest in any of the approaches (i.e. design only, design-build, or construction only).
